Ocracoke S.T.E.A.M.
You know what that means, take out your glue sticks and tri-fold boards! Ocracoke students impressed everyone once again this year with amazing science projects. 5th grade teacher Jeanie Owens, helped make the science fair possible by organizing and running the whole thing.
We had full participation in all categories, Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. Each student worked extremely hard on their projects and every project was unique.
This year they gave awards for each separate category, having a 1st and 2nd place for 3rd-5th, 6th-8th, and 9th-12th and a best of show for that category. The awards ceremony started with a recognition of all the Pre-K, Kindergarteners, First and Second graders, great job on your projects guys! We then continued with the following awards:

We all had a laugh when Gavin was called for his award as Gavin Tucker, we all know Gavin is an Elicker! It was amazing to see the different project variety you could accomplish, from fat cats to batteries to termites. We hope to see everyone next year and I have no doubt that next year will be just as amazing. One to think about until next year is, what really makes cats fat? Essie says it’s from all the treats, but who knows?
