Last Friday, January 8th, had some exciting home games against Manteo.

Ocracoke School hosted the Manteo Redskins boys JV, and the varsity girls and boys. The JV boys game was a disappointing loss with a 47 – 32 score in favor of Manteo. Some stats from the Ocracoke boys JV team are: Kalai Samick had 14 points, Colby Austin scored 5 points, and Sam Evans had 2 points.

Moving on to the varsity girls game. The Lady Dolphins won, but it was a very exciting second half because we only won by 2 points! The score was 66-64 in favor of Ocracoke. While in the game, Sydney Austin scored 37 points and her 1000th career point! (Stay tuned for an upcoming interview with her on the Current!) Some of the other stats were: Josie Winstead had 4 points, Bricia Moreno scored 14 points, and Ingrid Contreras had 8 points – all in the 2nd quarter.

Last but not least, we have gotten to the varsity boys game. This game was a nail-biter for sure because the Dolphins went into overtime, but won. The score after overtime was 55-52. The stats of that game for Ocracoke were: Evin Caswell had 17 points, Liam Caswell scored 11 points, Brandon O’Neal had 9 points, and Matteus Gilbert scored 10 points.

Overall the nights games were excellent for the Ocracoke Dolphins. That wraps up Friday’s games.

Editor's note: The Dolphins did not fare as well in away games this week. All three teams fell to the Camden County Bruins on January 9th, and also lost to Cape Hatteras on January 13th. The next home game is scheduled for January 19th against Columbia. The Dolphins will host Perquimans High School on the 22nd and Gates County on the 23rd.
