Ocracoke Royals
File this post under "better late than never!" It's been a busy couple of weeks and I thought the need had passed, but I've had several local people ask if I was going to post Homecoming pix. We all like to see our kids looking good. (Halloween Carnival pix coming soon!)
Seniors Evin Caswell and Josie Winstead were crowned King and Queen at Ocracoke School's annual Homecoming on October 16th. Caroline Temple and Kevin Perez, also seniors, joined them with the royal titles of Princess and Prince.
The traditional Homecoming Court, emceed this year by senior Cecelia Carter, began at 7pm. Thirty-two students (out of a possible fifty in the entire high school) opted to join the festivities this year.
Following the Court was the ever-popular photo-op sessions where the kids pose with each other and everyone else so there's proof of how well they clean up.
Homecoming Night doubled as Senior Night for students participating in fall sports. Ocracoke School's English teacher and athletic director Charles Temple recognized Cecelia Carter, Aldo Serrano, and Caroline Temple for their participation in soccer; Josie Winstead for her participation in volleyball; and Evin Caswell, Dalton Kalna, and Kevin Perez for their participation in cross country. The student athletes presented flowers to their moms during the ceremony.
The Homecoming festivities began and ended with basketball. Before the Court presentation, the middle schoolers played a game, and after the Court and Senior Night events, the high school junior varsity team played community members. Go Dolphins!
