Weekly Seashore Report 5/13/15

Press Release

The 2015 wildlife breeding season has begun in earnest for Cape Hatteras National Seashore.

Weekly reports are distributed mid-week, every week during the summer and fall months. These summaries complement current information on the park website that is updated frequently during these months.

For more information on the Google Earth interactive site and the park's Off-Road Vehicle webpage, see:

On-site signage, of the beaches in the Seashore, is the most accurate and current indications of areas that are open to public access or closed to entry.  Closed areas are clearly marked with symbolic fencing and signs that are subject to change during the wildlife breeding season.

On Ocracoke, all the ramps are currently open to pedestrians. Ramp 68 is closed for the summer season, as always.

Breaking news! Ocracoke has the first loggerhead nest of the season! It's south of Ramp 72, but there is room to drive behind it.
