Press Release

The North Carolina Department of Transportation’s Ferry Division today released its holiday schedule for the 2013 Christmas holiday.

The schedule affects three of the system’s eight routes, and was based on analysis of historic traffic patterns and current reservations. The three routes affected are Cherry Branch-Minnesott Beach, Cedar Island-Ocracoke, and Swan Quarter-Ocracoke.

The scheduled departures (to and from Ocracoke) for the holiday are as follows:

Cedar Island-Ocracoke (December 24-25):

From Cedar Island: 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m
From Ocracoke: 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Swan Quarter-Ocracoke (December 24-25):

From Swan Quarter: 4:00 p.m.

From Ocracoke: 12:30 p.m.

There will be no holiday changes on the Southport-Fort Fisher, Bayview-Aurora, Hatteras-Ocracoke, Currituck-Knotts Island, or Stumpy Point-Rodanthe routes. Those routes will all remain on their current schedules if the Bonner Bridge remains closed, or on their regular winter schedules if the bridge has been reopened.

The current bridge-closed ferry schedule is here.
