Police Blotter 10/16/2013

"Not many tickets have crossed my desk," said Sergeant Jason Daniels.

Ocracoke has been quiet, and deputies are not seeing many issues.

In mid September deputies charged an individual with second degree rape. The man was indicted by the grand jury, and the case is being prepared for trial. The victim was treated at Outer Banks Hospital and is receiving support from Hotline.

A handful of DUI's have been issued, said Daniels.

Deputies have been called out in the wee hours to respond to a few random noise complaints. They were dispatched to assist EMS on a medical call on Lighthouse Road.

There have been no domestic calls.

Good luck to Deputy William Boyd, who left the department to attend Highway Patrol School. The Sheriff's Department is looking to make a new hire for Ocracoke. There are still two deputies on duty every day and the island is being covered.
