Attention, Ocracoke gardeners! The plant sale will be Thursday, April 11th!

Postponed last month due to road conditions, the plants are finally on their way with the beautiful Spring weather! Stop by the school's multi-purpose room starting at 8am tomorrow to get your pre-ordered plants.

They have extras, so even if you didn't place an order, you can still get some flowers and veggies.

Happy Spring!

Original story:

Place your orders by March 8th.

I turned mine in this morning! I loooove the plant sale. It combines gardening and buying things for a good cause – two of my top priorities – and it’s one of my favorite signs of spring! The plants are strong, healthy and good quality, and the sale has been a popular fundraiser for over 20 years. There are annuals, perennials and veggies to order and also hanging baskets.

Teachers Leslie Cole, Gwen Austin, and Jennifer Garrish organize the sale and reap the benefits for their classrooms. According to Leslie, Jennifer can purchase most of her science lab needs with plant sale funds, Gwen uses her share for classroom supplies, and Leslie uses her share to help bankroll the Washington, D.C. trips that the juniors and seniors go on every two years.

The teachers have decided not to order many extras this year; pre-ordering is the way to get your plants. Plant sale forms are available at the school, Variety Store, and Post Office. Bring them and your payment to the school office by March 8th – that's THIS Friday, so don't delay! Pick-up day will be Friday, March 15th beginning at 8:00 a.m. in the school's multi-purposr room.
