Ocracoke's Boy Scouts were recognized last Sunday at the Methodist Church.

Boy Scout Sunday is an annual event, and this year it happened to fall on the same day as the Children's Sabbath. This kid-filled service was led by the Scouts and the OUMC Sunday School classes.

The "Proclamation and Response" section of the service had a Genesis them. Kyle Tillett read the verses, which were interspersed with four songs from the children's choir directed by Ali Arter.

Then the youth troupe, directed by Desiree Ricker and accompanied by Jubal Creech on drums, acted out original skits titled "The Serpent" and "Cain and Abel."

During the Blessing of the Scouts, each leader introduced his troop and let the boys say something they like about scouting. The leaders are Chip Stevens, Tiger Cubs; Tyke Ely, Wolf Cubs; Howard Bennink (whose son, Tristan, stood in for him Sunday), Bear Cubs; David Scott, Junior Webelos; Rob King, Senior Webelos; and Jason Wells, Boy Scouts.
