Joseph "JoKo" Koch Dies at Age 104

Joseph Koch (JoKo) told Ocracoke's story in his art.

He died in March, 2012 in Ohio shortly before his 105th birthday (April 12, 1907).

Joe and Esther Koch "found" the Outer Banks of North Carolina in the early 1950's.  Their love and appreciation for the area and its people (especially Ocracoke and  "Ocokers") is wonderfully captured for all time by Joe in his prolific and detailed prints telling authentic stories of a people, of a place and of a moment in time.

Thank you, Joe and Esther, for lives and friendships that mattered, and a lasting legacy of unforgettable memories.
