Press Release
Hyde Health COVID Update
Hyde County Health Department has had 33 positive cases to date.

Of those cases, 26 have recovered, which means we are now following 7 cases. Thankfully, we have had no deaths in Hyde County. Press releases on new cases stopped on July 3, however, weekly releases will come out with updates.

Mass testing will take place on Mainland Hyde County on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 starting at 10:00 a.m. Appointments are required and you should contact the Health Department for your appointment. Mass testing will be provided on Ocracoke Island in the near future, and more testing sites are possible on the Mainland in the upcoming weeks. As more testing occurs, more positive cases will surface. This is an effort to identify folks who may be infectious and not know they are because they have no symptoms. It’s yet another way to slow the spread of the virus. COVID-19 remains a serious virus, and prevention measures should be used consistently. Use the 3 Ws.

The Hyde County Health Department remains available to the public to answer questions and provide education. Businesses are encouraged to call if they have questions or concerns about how to keep their employees and patrons safe. Individuals are encouraged to call with inquiries. We can be reached at 926-4399 Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
