What's Open?

Your post-Dorian guide to what's open and when.

During the off-season, we update this page each week so that residents and visitors know where to go. This year, it will be a bit different, and show where, when, and how to get stuff done on an island where almost everything is closed!

Ocracoke is still under a state of emergency. We have a curfew from 11pm til 7am. Entry to the island is limited to those people who are approved by the county. (See the list here.) The road is closed north of the NPS campground. (The Hatteras-Ocracoke ferry runs from Hatteras to Silver Lake.)

At the October 7 Hyde County Board of Commissioners meeting, the commissioners voted to rescind the alcohol ban effective October 14, 2019. They also agreed to put off any discussion of opening the island to visitors until their November 4 meeting. Route 12 on Ocracoke should be repaired by November 22nd.

Street-side debris pick-up is happening now. Keep hauling it to the "curb."

Wonderful volunteers bring hot meals and fresh produce to the island. Check out the Current calendar for specific dates and times.
