Current Events June 3-9

Ocracoke will be celebrating the 20th year of the Ocrafolk Festival this weekend. Music and events begin early on Friday and run through Sunday afternoon. Find the schedule of events here. 

Porch Talks and other special programs (all FREE) begin this week at the OPS Museum. The National Park Service offers several programs, including opening the lighthouse.

Monday, June 3rd:

1pm: Ocracoke Pirates NPS Program @ Ocracoke Visitor Center. Learn about Blackbeard and other pirates with a park ranger.

1:30pm: Book Signing & Reading @ OPS Museum ???? will read from her children's book, The Little Turkle. 

3pm: Barrier Island Nature NPS Program @ Ocracoke Visitor Center. Join a park ranger for a talk about the wild side of the park.

6pm: Hyde County Board of Commissioners meeting @ Community Center. Click here to view the agenda and packets. The public is invited to attend.

7pm: Open Mic @ Dajio Every Monday night all summer long!

8:45pm: Night Sky NPS Program @ Lifeguard Beach Ocracoke After Dark! Enjoy and evening of stars and stories on the beach! 

Tuesday, June 4th: 

10:30am: All About Turtles! NPS Program @ Ocracoke Visitor Center. This activity especially for seashore kids and families.

11:30am: Public Hearing on the OTTDA Proposed Budget for FY19-20 @ Community Center. The Ocracoke Township Tourism Development Authority (OTTDA) budget for FY 2019-2020 has been submitted to the OTTDA Board and a copy is available for public inspection: Proposed Budget Ordinance FY 2019-2020 June 4, 2019, Meeting Agenda

1pm: Museum Tour @ OPS Museum. Join us for a tour of our museum.Come learn about the history of the museum and Ocracoke.

1:30pm: Lighthouse Open! You can go in, but not up! You know you want to see inside... 1:30-3pm.

2:30pm: Ocracoke History NPS Program @ Ocracoke Visitor Center. Join a park ranger to learn about the island’s rich past.

6pm: Farewell Potluck @ OUMC Rec Hall Pastor Richard Bryant and his family are leaving Ocracoke to work at a church in Burgaw, NC. All are welcome to a dinner to see them off and wish them well. The UMW will provide main dishes and drinks; please bring a side dish to share.  

7pm: Live Music! Bryan Mayer @ Oyster Co.

8pm: Live Music! @ Coyote Music Den: Coyote Plus One "Well-Crafted Spontaneity" - Marcy & Lou with a different special guest every Tuesday at 8pm (doors at 7:30). A fun, heart-felt evening of live music in a magical setting. This week's guest is Danny Gotham from Durham, NC!

1pm: Kids's Create-a-Craft @ OPS Museum Join us each Wednesday during the summer (June 5 - August 14) to make a cute craft! This week's theme is Ocracoke Quilting. FREE; Donations are happily accepted!

8pm: Live Music! Raygun Ruby @ Dajio, 8–11pm

8pm: Live Music! Molasses Creek @ Deepwater Theater. Every Thursday night all summer! Doors open @ 7:30pm. For 26 years, Molasses Creek's high-energy performances and heartfelt songwriting has brought the love of their coastal home to the stage.
