Passenger ferry service begins... and good times ahead at the Firemen's Ball! 

NPS volunteers and rangers open the Ocracoke Lighthouse a couple of times a week. (You can go in, but not up!) Stop by the NPS Visitor Center for specific times, see below, or check the Current's Facebook page.

Monday, May 20th:

10:30am: Ocracoke Pirates NPS Program @ Ocracoke Visitor Center. Learn about Blackbeard and other pirates with a park ranger.

3pm: Barrier Island Nature NPS Program @ Ocracoke Visitor Center. Join a park ranger for a talk about the wild side of the park.

4pm: Occupancy Tax Board mtg @ Community Center. This is a special meeting about tram funding for Ocracoke. 

5:30pm: Waterways Commission mtg @ Community Center

7pm: Open Mic @ Dajio. Every Monday night!

Tuesday, May 21st: 

1:30pm: Lighthouse Open! You can go in, but not up! You know you want to see inside... 1:30-3pm.

2:30pm: Ocracoke History NPS Program @ Ocracoke Visitor Center. Join a park ranger to learn about the island’s rich past.

8pm: Live Music! @ Coyote Music Den: Coyote Plus One "Well-Crafted Spontaneity" - Marcy & Lou with a different special guest every Tuesday at 8pm (doors at 7:30). A fun, heart-felt evening of live music in a magical setting. This week's guest is Martin Garrish!

6pm: Wine Tasting @ Zillie's 6pm: Wine tasting at Zillie's Island Pantry! Wine tastings take place every Thursday @ 6pm, and pair five great wines with delicious hors d'oeuvres from the pantry. Space is limited, so make a reservation, and sign up at zillies.com.

8pm: Live Music! Raygun Ruby @ Dajio, 8–11pm

Friday, May 24th:

2:30pm: All About Turtles! NPS Program @ Ocracoke Visitor Center. This activity especially for seashore kids and families.

3pm: Arts & Crafts Supplies SWAP @ Ocracoke Library. Everything is FREE. Come and get it! 

7pm: Ocracoke High School Drama Club presents "Storied" @ Ocracoke School gym. Magical plot and wonderful cast! Admission: $2 for kids under 12; $5 for 12 and older. 

8pm: Live Music! @ Coyote Music Den Friday nights through October 25th, Fridays at the Den will be Marcy & Lou "In Concert" with a special guest (or not) at 8pm (doors at 7:30). A fun, heart-felt evening of live music in a magical setting.

14th Annual Firemen's Ball! NEW LOCATION for 2019: Berkley Barn!

4:00-6:30pm Silent Auction

5:00-6:30pm Pig Pickin(or until food runs out, which it always does)  Plates are $15, and include a drink. Inside, donations accepted for cold beer generously donated by City Beverage Co. and 1718 Brewing Ocracoke

7:00pm Live Auction

8:30pm Live Music The Dune Dogs and The Ocracoke Rockers (Donations for the dance accepted at the door) Please note: Only event sponsors receive tickets for the pig pickin' and dance; first come, first served for everyone else!

Sunday, May 26th: 

Services @ both churches: Ocracoke United Methodist (Sunday School 10am; service at 11am) and Ocracoke Assembly of God (Sunday School 10am, services at 11am and 6pm; also Wednesday night service at 7pm).
