Ocracoke Library to Hold Craft Swap

Calling all crafters! And teachers! And parents! And artists!

Tired of all the craft supplies you've hoarded? Want to try something new? Bring your still-usable arts and crafts supplies to the library by May 14th and we'll SWAP! All items will be FREE and anyone can stop by to peruse the piles.

Those who DONATE before May 14th, will get an Early Bird ticket to get first dibs on the SWAP supplies! Then the library will choose some supplies to keep for Summer Reading Program activities. And then? It’s a free-for-all!

What to donate? Yarn, fabric, scrapbooking supplies, paint, stencils, ribbon, googly eyes, beads, tools, embroidery floss, kits that your kids never put together, patterns, quilting supplies, projects that make you feel guilty for never getting to them, needlepoint kits, clay, tissue paper, rubber stamps, canvases, craft books, jewelry findings, hot glue guns/sticks, glass gems, ornament kits, macramé supplies, basketmaking reed, sequins, glitter, glue dots, all those supplies you bought when you decided to become a painter or a potter or a printmaker, and all that stuff you bought at Michael’s when you thought you would handmake all the Christmas presents…. Share the loot!

(If there's something specific that you're looking for, let us know!)

Please bring your donations by Tuesday, May 14. The SWAP will be open during regular library hours on May 15-18. (Wednesday 2-8pm; Thursday and Friday 3-7pm; Saturday 9am-1pm).

The Early Bird Swap will be open 1-3pm on May 15th. Volunteers are welcome to help set up on Tuesday evening and get to see everything!

Leftover SWAP items will be saved by the library or donated to Village Thrift.
