Sound Ferries Running; NC 12 Closed on Ocracoke
The mandatory evacuation order of visitors from Ocracoke Island will be lifted starting on Friday, September 21, 2018.

At this time, the Hatteras to Ocracoke ferry route is not accessible due to damage on Hwy 12 in Ocracoke. 

The NCDOT Ferry Division will be operating the following ferry schedules on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 and Thursday, September 20, 2018. These routes are only for residents and vendors. No visitors will be allowed until Friday.

Swan Quarter to Ocracoke - 7:30 am, 9:30 am, 10:30 am, 3:30 pm, and 4:30pm

Ocracoke to Swan Quarter - 7:30am, 12:30pm, 1:30pm, 4:30pm, and 6:30pm (the 6:30 pm route will not run on Thursday)

Cedar Island to Ocracoke - 1:30 pm

Ocracoke to Cedar Island - 10:30 am

The NCDOT Ferry Division will be operating the following ferry schedules on Friday, September 21, 2018 through Monday, September 24, 2018. Their reservation system is currently accepting reservations.

Swan Quarter to Ocracoke - 7:00 am, 10:00 am, 1:00 pm, 4:30pm, and 6:30 pm

Ocracoke to Swan Quarter - 7:00 am, 9:30 am, 12:45 pm, 3:45 pm, and 9:30 pm

Cedar Island to Ocracoke - 7:00am, 10:00am, 1:00pm, and 4:00pm

Ocracoke to Cedar Island - 7:30am, 10:00am, 1:00pm, and 4:00pm

The Cape Hatteras National Seashore's visitor center, off-road vehicle permit office, and campground on Ocracoke Island will also reopen this Friday morning.

There are currently no obstructions on the major highways in Hyde County. However, if you are traveling from out of the area, check http://www.drivenc.gov for road conditions between you and your destination. You can also call 511 for road conditions.
