So much is going on this week! Don't miss the Art Exhibit Opening @ the Library or the Books Signing @ OPS! And there's Trivia and Tamales and Live Music and more! 

Monday, April 16th:

Today's home baseball game was cancelled due to the condition of the field after the downpour.

5:30pm: Waterways Commission mtg. @ Community Center

7pm: Program/Discussion on Sea Level Rise @ Community Center. This free program is provided by Dr. Reide Corbett from East Carolina University. Ocracoke Civic & Business Association and Ocracoke Waterways Commission have teamed up to provide this informative program. Sea level rise is happening. The “why” is far less important for our community than the “how.” Dr. Reide Corbett, Ph.D., an expert on the implications of sea level rise for the Outer Banks, will present the science on sea level rise and how it is likely to impact the Outer Banks, Ocracoke, and NC-12. All are welcome to attend this informational discussion.

Tuesday, April 17th:

2pm: Memorial Service for Gaynelle Tillett @ Ocracoke Assembly of God Church

6:30pm: Ocracoke Democratic Party meeting @ Deepwater Theater on School Road. Discussion of Ocracoke precinct matters in preparation for 2018 midterm elections. 

6:30pm: Open Jam @ Coyote Music Den, 6:30-9pm – sing, play, listen – all ages, all levels welcome (youth are encouraged to come at 6:30). No charge, but donations welcome.

Wednesday, April 18th: 

4pm: Home Middle School Baseball game @ Ocracoke Community Park. Go Dolphins! 

7pm: Word Play @ Coyote Music Den, 7-8:30pm. If you love words … bring something you wrote, read, heard and share, listen or tell a story. No charge, but donations welcome.

7pm: Island Trivia @ Ocracoke Oyster Co. Just $2 to play! Proceeds will benefit local waterman Stevie Wilson, who recently suffered an accident and is recovering from a broken back and ribs. His wife, Jennifer, and kids Lily and Stevie, are in Norfolk with Stevie while he's in the hospital. Show off how smart you are for a good cause, and help out an Ocracoke family in need.

Thursday, April 19th:

6pm: Ocracoke Community Helpers Exhibit Opening @ Ocracoke Library"Ocracoke's Community Helpers" is an Art Installation by Ocracoke School's Kindergarten Class. Join us for the Exhibit Opening at the Ocracoke Library. The Kindergarten students will present their models of Ocracoke community places and people. All are welcome! Refreshments provided. 6–7pm. The Kindergarten created this amazing art project for the Ocracoke School S.T.E.A.M. Fair – their topics were Engineering and Social Studies.

Friday, March 20th:

5pm: Book Signing @ OPS Museum Ellen Cloud Fulcher's book Ocracoke Lighthouse and the Old Salts will be launched with a reception and book signing by Ray McAllister, who wrote a new forward. Also included are two short pieces the late Ellen Fulcher Cloud wrote after the book's initial publication, plus more pages and photographs, enhanced photo reproduction, and a keepsake hardcover binding. Two of Ellen's daughters will also be at the book signing. Refreshments will be provided. 

8pm: Live Music @ Coyote Music Den! Martin, Marcy, and Lou "Playing Your Ocracoke Memories" in the intimate listening roon of the Coyote Music Den in the Community Square. Every Friday night through November 26th. $15 adults/$7 kids under 12. Doors open at 7:30pm. Bring your own refreshments; soft drinks and water available for purchase. 

Saturday, April 21st:

9am: 1st Annual Ocracoke Island Waterfowl Festival @ Ocracoke School Gym. Hosted by the newly-formed Ocracoke Island Decoy Carvers Guild. Event lasts from 9am–6pm (There'll be time to stop in after Portsmouth Homecoming!), with booths, demonstrations, activities for kids, food, a bake sale, and more! 

10am: Portsmouth Island Homecoming "Step Back in Time" at Portsmouth Island. Read more about Homecoming here. Reservations for the passenger ferry from Ocracoke to Portsmouth should be made with Rudy Austin (252-928-4361). The cost is $20 per person, round trip. Ferry reservations are required. Sunday, April 22nd:

8am: Hot Tamales Fundraiser @ Eduardo's Taco Stand Proceeds will benefit Ocracoke resident Alison Serafin's fundraising for the Multiple Sclerosis Walk. Tamales available until there are no más Tamales.

Services @ both churches: Ocracoke United Methodist (Sunday School 10am; service at 11am) and Ocracoke Assembly of God (Sunday School 10am, services at 11am and 6pm; also Wednesday night service at 7pm).
