Current Events Week of April 2-8

Welcome, April, and some spring temps! 

Spring is springing on Ocracoke and most businesses are open for the season! (If they're not, they're getting ready to open soon!)

Monday, April 2nd:

6pm: Public Hearing - Ocracoke Ordinance for Abandoned Vessels Hyde County Board of Commissioners will conduct public hearing on “An Ordinance Amending Chapter 26 Of The Hyde County Code To Prohibit The Abandonment Of Vessels In The Navigable Waters Of Ocracoke Harbor, Commonly Known As Silver Lake”. The hearing will take place at the Hyde County Government Center, Multi­Use Room, 30 Oyster Creek Rd, Swan Quarter, NC and the Ocracoke Community Center, 999 Irvin Garrish Highway using electronic conferencing equipment. Citizens will be given the opportunity to provide oral and written comment on the abandonment of vessels in the navigable waters of Ocracoke Harbor at the public hearing. 6pm: Hyde County Commissioners meeting@ Ocracoke Community Center (following public hearing): Click here to view the agenda and packets. The public is invited to attend.

Tuesday, April 3rd:

6:30pm: Open Jam @ Coyote Music Den, 6:30-9pm – sing, play, listen – all ages, all levels welcome (youth are encouraged to come at 6:30). No charge, but donations welcome.

Wednesday, April 4th:

7pm: Word Play @ Coyote Music Den, 7-8:30pm. If you love words … bring something you wrote, read, heard and share, listen or tell a story. No charge, but donations welcome.

Thursday, April 5th:

7pm: Decoy Guild meeting @ Ocracoke Community Center. Find out all about the 1st annual Ocracoke Decoy Festival on April 21st!

Friday, March 6th:

8pm: Live Music @ Coyote Music Den! Martin, Marcy, and Lou "Playing Your Ocracoke Memories" in the intimate listening roon of the Coyote Music Den in the Community Square. Every Friday night through November 26th. $15 adults/$7 kids under 12. Doors open at 7:30pm. Bring your own refreshments; soft drinks and water available for purchase. 

Saturday, April 7th:

6pm: Live music! Dance with the Ocracoke Rockers @ Ocracoke Oyster Co.! The band starts playing at 8pm. 

Sunday, April 8th:

Services @ both churches: Ocracoke United Methodist (Sunday School 10am; service at 11am) and Ocracoke Assembly of God (Sunday School 10am, services at 11am and 6pm; also Wednesday night service at 7pm).

1pm: Spring Clean-Up day @ OPS Museum grounds. Come help spruce up the place! Bring your own tools and gloves. We will have ice cream as a treat afterward!
