Sundae Horn

Happiest of holidays from the Ocracoke Current!

Every year at this time, I consider posting a notice that the Current will be on hiatus for a week or two around Christmas, but then I talk myself out of it, and totally plan to keep up with news and information for all our wonderful readers.

When will I learn?

Merry Christmas!
Aaron Stiles

So here I am, on Christmas Day, working on the Current for the first time in almost a week and I'm about two weeks behind in stories. Oops! And I'm doing this from the West Coast, where my family is visiting my oldest kid who moved to Seattle in August.

But even when I stay put on Ocracoke, I slack off the Current at Christmastime because there are presents to wrap and carols to sing and "Elf" to watch and cookies to bake and crafts to make and packages to mail and cards to send and parties to go to and halls to deck and gay apparel to don and family fun to enjoy. I love to attend (or even organize) every Christmas event on the island. It's a wonderful time of year and I enjoy every minute of it.

I hope that you, dear reader, enjoyed your holiday with family and friends. Thank you for reading the Current!

Thanks to Aaron Stiles for the use of another of his amazing photos!

I promise the reporting will begin again soon!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
