Today (Friday, August 11) is the deadline for residents and businesses to submit information on economic losses due to the power outage.

In response to the economic impact on the Ocracoke Community, Hyde County officials will be collecting information from island residents and businesses to begin building a case for restitution of the economic losses related to the power outage. PCL has reached out to the county and they want the opportunity to settle this peacefully. All businesses and individuals need to tally up what they estimate their losses to be for the week, including lost food, wages, and revenues. Once everyone submits their totals, the county will be the liaison with PCL on the community's behalf. By pursuing this option, there will be no legal fees for the participants. We are aware that PCL has posted individual claim forms on its Facebook, Twitter and web page for those affected. The county believes it would be best if the entire island submits the request to the company as a group via the county.

Please print and return this form to the County of Hyde, PO Box 188, Swan Quarter, NC, 27885 Attention: Rosemary Johnson; scan completed form and send via email to rjohnson@hydecountync.gov; or fax to 252.926.3701.  All information will remain confidential between Hyde County, the individual reporting and PCL Outer Banks Claim Team. Please submit this information by Friday, August 11, 2017.
