The National Park Service hosts interpretive programs on Ocracoke every week. Find that schedule here

NPS volunteers and rangers open the Ocracoke Lighthouse a couple of times a week. (You can go in, but not up!) Stop by the NPS Visitor Center for specific times or check the Current's Facebook page.

Ocracoke Friends of the Library Used Book Sale is still going on! Stop by during regular library hours: Monday–Friday, 3–7pm, and Saturday, 9am-1pm. All proceeds benefit our wonderful little library!

Monday, July 10th:

The monthly Ferry Division meeting has been canceled.

1pm: OPS Museum Tour – Free! Today's guide will be Emmet Temple.

4pm: Beer Tasting @ Zillie’s! Toby from Highland Brewing (Asheville, NC) is on Ocracoke to host a free beer tasting. Toby will have a few beers to sample 3–7pm.

6pm: Hyde County Board of Commissioners meeting. The Hyde County Board of Commissioners will meet on Monday, July 10th at 6pm. The agenda and packets for the meeting are now available to the public. Click here to view the documents. The meeting will take place via teleconferencing equipment in the Hyde County Government Center Multi-Use Room and in the Ocracoke Community Center. The public is invited to attend.

8pm: Pirate Show at Deepwater Theater! Join Desiree Ricker, David Tweedie, Gary Mitchell, and Peyton Piquard for a fun, family-friendly analysis of the infamous character Blackbeard the Pirate. 7:30pm; doors open at 7. Read more about "Blackbeard: A Historical, Hysterical Account" here.

Tuesday, July 11th:  

1pm: Birding on Ocracoke Porch Talk with Peter Vankevich @ the OPS Museum. Porch Talks are FREE, informal, and informative!

8pm: Music at the Coyote Den! The Coyote Den is in the Community Square, and will host "Coyote Plus One" at 8pm every Tuesday night. This week's guest is Maxx Katz from Charlottesville, VA. More info at www.coyotemusic.net

Wednesday, July 12th:

10am: Arrgh! Free piratical program aboard the Skipjkack Wilma Lee with Capt. Rob and Fiddler Dave!

1pm: Kids Create-a-Craft program @ OPS Museum. This week's theme is "Ocracoke Birds"! Bring your kids and enjoy this special program. Suggested donation $5 for materials.

1pm: Makers Market on Silver Lake Local art, community offerings, located on the Wahab House lawn, next to Anchorage Inn. Parking at NPS lot. Weekly outdoor arts and crafts market with local and regional artisans.

6pm: Family Movie Night @ the LibraryKids under 8 need to bring a grown-up. This week's movie is "Sing!" 

6pm July Wine @ Berkley Manor Hosted by Zillie's Island Pantry; reservations required. Find out more about this delicious dining opportunity here

7pm: Live Music! Barefoot Wade @ Dajio, 7–10pm, Kate McNally @ Oyster Co. 7–9pm.

8pm: Music at the Coyote Den! The Coyote Den is in the Community Square, and will host "Coyote: Just We Two" (just Marcy and Lou!) at 8pm every Wednesday night. More info at www.coyotemusic.net

8pm: Dingbatter's Guide to Ocracoke @ Deepwater Theater. This new comedy-skit show is the ultimate guide for Ocracoke visitors (and residents) of all ages! Join Desiree Ricker, David Tweedie, Gary Mitchell, and Peyton Piquard for answers to all your burning questions. Admission. Doors open at 7:30pm.

9pm: Sing out! It's Karaoke Night @ Ocracoke Oyster Co.!

Thursday, July 13th:

10am: Free program aboard the Skipjack Wilma Lee! Learn about Navigation and Make Your Own Compass with Laura McClain.

11am: North Carolina Aquarium Program @ Ocracoke Library! Free! Fun! Live animals! NC Aquarium staff come to Ocracoke every year as part of the library's Summer Reading Program. All are welcome.

11am: Memorial Service for Vickie Cobb @ Ocracoke United Methodist Church.

1pm: Porch Talk @ the OPS Museum. Porch Talks are FREE, informal, informative, and fun! 

3pm: Live Music! Martin Garrish & Lou Castro @ Ocracoke Oyster Company! Come out to hear some amazing guitar playing, 3–6pm

6pm: Wine tasting at Zillie's Island Pantry! Summer wine tastings take place every Thursday and Friday at 6pm, and pair five great wines with delicious hors d'oeuvres from the pantry. Space is limited, so make a reservation, and sign up at zillies.com.

7pm: Live music! Raygun Ruby, your favorite retro-80's band, plays 7-10pm @ Dajio!

Friday, July 14th:

10am: Free program aboard the Skipjack Wilma Lee! Learn about the Anatomy of a Boat with Tom Pahl. Free and family-friendly!

10am: Storytime @ Ocracoke Library! Ages 0-Up because everyone LOVES a good story! Join us in the library for stories and fun! This event is open to the public, visitors and locals alike!

Saturday, July 15th: 

Play Ball! Ocracoke is hosting a Baseball Tournament for kids 13 and under. Five teams are coming from off the island to join in! Times TBA, but the games will be most of the day on Saturday and Sunday.

6pm: Ocracoke Oyster Company closed for private party
