The rockets will light up the sky on Monday, July 3, 2017.

The island community will illuminate the holiday festivities with pyrotechnics again this year. Fireworks will be a part of the two-day celebration of our nation’s birthday!

Thanks to cooperative efforts of the National Park Service, Ocracoke Volunteer Fire Department, Hyde County, Dare County, and NCDOT Ferry Division, the pyrotechnics will be launched at the southern end of the island at the large NPS parking area. Spectators will be able to gather around beautiful Silver Lake harbor for great viewing.

Other events on July 3rd include a traditional Ocracoke Square Dance in the Community Square featuring live music with local band Molasses Creek, and a Gathering at the NPS Docks with deejay Tommy Hutcherson before and after the Fireworks.

The Independence Day celebration doesn’t end with the Grand Finale on Sunday night. On Tuesday, July 4th, events start early and continue all day long.
