So much going on this week as we head into the 18th annual Ocrafolk Festival....

The National Park Service hosts interpretive programs on Ocracoke every week. Find that schedule here

Wonderful NPS volunteers and rangers open the Lighthouse a couple of times a week. (You can go in, but not up!) Stop by the NPS Visitor Center for specific times or check the Current's Facebook page.

Monday, May 29th:

Memorial Day

4–7pm: Sculpin Beer Tasting @ Zillie's Jake from Ballast Point Brewing will be @ Zillie's for a tap takeover and free beer tasting. Jake will also be offering free samples of three different versions of Sculpin and four other beers. 

Tuesday, May 30th: 

5pm: Special Meeting open to the public to discuss the proposed occupancy tax rate, Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at the Ocracoke Community Center.

8pm: Music at the Coyote Den! The Coyote Den is in the Community Square, and will host "Coyote Plus One" at 8pm every Tuesday night. This week kicks off the 2017 with Kate McNally! More info at www.coyotemusic.net

Wednesday, May 31st:

10am: Outdoor Classroom summer programs are offered every Wednesday at 10am. All programs are free, last approximately 90 minutes, are outdoors, and taught by Elizabeth Hanrahan, a certified wildlife educator. All classes are located at NCCAT (North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching) located in the old Coast Guard station on the harbor. This week's class is "How to Read an NC Beach."

5pm-8pm: Art Opening @ Down Creek Gallery for Ocracoke Current's own Crystal Canterbury. Come out and see new photographs by our favorite photographer! 5–8pm, with refreshments!

7pm: Live Music! Aaron Lavigne @ Dajio, 7–10pm.

8pm: Music at the Coyote Den! The Coyote Den is in the Community Square, and will host "Coyote: Just We Two" (just Marcy and Lou!) at 8pm every Wednesday night. More info at www.coyotemusic.net

8:30pm: Sing out! It's Karaoke Night @ Ocracoke Oyster Co.!

Thursday, June 1st:

3pm: Live Music! Martin Garrish & Lou Castro @ Ocracoke Oyster Company! Come out to hear some amazing guitar playing, 3–6pm

6pm: Wine tasting at Zillie's Island Pantry! Summer wine tastings take place every Thursday and Friday at 6pm, and pair five great wines with delicious hors d'oeuvres from the pantry. Space is limited, so make a reservation, and sign up at zillies.com.

7pm: Live music! Raygun Ruby, your favorite retro-80's band, plays 7-10pm @ Dajio!

8pm: Live Music! Molasses Creek in concert every Thursday at 8pm at Deepwater Theater. Doors open at 7:30pm. Reserve your tickets online at molassescreek.com

7:00 PM -- Ocrafolk Festival 50/50 Art Auction ~ A much-anticipated event, this year's 50/50 Art Auction has some real treasures from local artists—Ocracoke and the OBX.  Artwork offered is previewed on website and pre-bids accepted online up until the start of the auction.

6:00-7:30 PM -- Admiralty Party aboard the Skipjack Wilma Lee.  This is a $75 ticketed event to support the Ocrafolk Festival.  Participants enjoy drinks and hors d'oeuvres dockside and then set sail with Captain Rob Temple at the helm. Music provided by Bob Zentz and Jeanne MacDougall.  Space is extremely limited. If you are interested, you can pre-purchase tickets online or see if space is available at the Ocrafolk Festival Info/Merch Booth (Community Square Docks).
