Current Events Week of April 3-9

The wisteria's in bloom!

It doesn't last long, but it's breathtakingly beautiful while it's here. Thanks to the Thurston House Inn for providing this stunning sight for us every year. It smells as heavenly as it looks! Ahhh, spring.

Monday, April 3rd:

5pm: Joint meeting with Hyde County School Board and Board of Commissioners @ Ocracoke Community Center (via teleconferencing equipment). This is the annual budget meeting. The agenda and proposed budget requests are here. The board of commissioners meeting will follow.

6pm-ish: Hyde County Board of Commissioners Meeting @ Ocracoke Community Center (via teleconferencing equipment). The agenda and packets for the Monday April 3, 2017 Hyde County Board of Commissioners meeting are now available to the public. Click here to view the documents. (FYI, Packet 2 has the request for funding from Ocracoke occupancy tax for the tram operating costs.) The public is invited to attend.

Tuesday, April 4th:

2pm: Hyde County School Board meets on Ocracoke @ Ocracoke Community Center.

7pm: Occupancy Tax Board Annual Meeting @ Ocracoke Community Center. Come on out to hear what all the non-profits are asking for this year. A little bird told me that 2017 requests are in excess of $475K. The board usually doles out $350K-$375K. What'll be this year? Inquiring minds want to know! (And rest assured, the Current will be there to report!)
