Sundae Horn
Happy, happy, joy, joy!
Happy, happy, joy, joy!

For a few moments this morning, Ocracokers were forced to contemplate a future without Eduardo's.

The specter of facing the long, cold winter of 2015 without tropical tacos, or veggie enchiladas, or northern tostados, or guacamole or fusion tacos* was too much to bear.

Hungry islanders awakened to this post on the Eduardo's Taco Stand Facebook page:

"This morning
When I wake up
Ooooohh. Noooo
Eduardo's
For LEASE
Please !!!!!!!!
What? Que?
I will keep you informed
It will be the last day with
Eduardo's December 31th
No way Jose
And my customers what?"

Panic ensued on the social networks. Cries of "Noooooooo!" "This can't be happening!" "Waaaaa!" followed his post. 4 out of 5 stages of grief were displayed (Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression -- everything but Acceptance)  Eduardo's fans were ready to kickstart a Kickstarter campaign to save their favorite local eatery. It's the end of the world! The zombie apocalypse! No more tacos!?!

But fear not! I bring you glad tidings of great joy: Eduardo's will be open every day except Christmas, all winter long.

Lost in Translation

Eduardo's owner, Eduardo Chavez, likes a good joke, and a Spanglish play on words. This particular Christmas greeting was inspired by a sign that Pete Williams made for him that says "For Lease Navidad." Eduardo decided to tease his customers with it.

Eduardo's next post: "Heyyy my beautiful people
Many times
My English is Confused.
I am Soo happy to say
Well.
I try to say
I love you and
"FELIZ NAVIDAD"
For Lease Navidad
I love you people and my marvelous costumers too you made my year with a lot of joy and fun .
Being here fills me with much joy and so much fun. I love what I do.
Yes the last day for this year. 31th
Next year we will have a new menu. More good food and very delicious meal made with love for you.
Gracias."

Eduardo says his hours will remain as 8am – 3pm for breakfast and lunch, and 5 – 7pm for dinner. He'll be closed on Christmas and close early (at 3pm) on Christmas Eve. The 31st is, indeed, the last day of 2014. The new year will dawn on January 1st and Eduardo's will be open for 2015, serving the best hangover food on the planet.

The "For Lease Navidad" post, he says, "was funny for me in a good way. I wanted to say thanks to my customers." He didn't mean to make people upset, and said I wasn't the only one to come in person to find out what was up.

Santa knows what's good! Eduardo must be on the Nice list!

And what's this about a new menu? What's not absolute perfection about the menu he already has? Eduardo assured me all MY favorites would still available, but the menu will also include "some nice, new ideas and more seafood because tourists are looking for seafood."

Don't panic. Eduardo will be there for us.

Feliz Navidad! Prospero Año y Felicidad!

*that's the list of what I ordered this week. How about you?
